Selene (“we,” “our,” “us”) is an on-device AI assistant designed to help users complete everyday tasks quickly and privately. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Selene mobile application (“App”) and related services.

By using Selene, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide and improve the functionality of the App.

1.1 Personal Information You Provide

We may collect the following information when you create an account, personalize the app, or interact with certain features:

  • Name

  • Email address

  • Phone number

  • Home/Work/Custom Addresses

  • User-entered preferences (e.g., booking details, preferred locations)

This information is used solely to support core product features such as reservations, reminders, calendar entries, personalized flows (e.g. Good Morning), and communication related to your account.

1.2 Task & Usage Information

To improve reliability and performance, we collect limited usage data, such as:

  • Task requests (text only)

  • Task outcomes (success/failure)

  • Latency and performance metrics

  • App interactions (e.g., features used, frequency)

We do not collect or store raw voice audio. Speech input is processed on-device whenever possible.

1.3 Device Information

We may collect anonymized technical information such as:

  • Device type

  • Operating system version

  • App version

This data helps us maintain compatibility and improve performance.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the data we collect only for the following purposes:

  • To provide core features (reminders, weather, news, bookings, ride initiation, etc.)

  • To personalize your experience and enable Magic Flows

  • To maintain and improve app performance

  • To detect and fix errors

  • To communicate with you about important updates or account-related issues

  • To enable account recovery if needed

We do not:

  • Sell your data

  • Rent your data

  • Share your data with advertisers

  • Use your data for targeted advertising

3. How We Store and Protect Your Information

  • Core AI processing occurs on-device to enhance privacy and reduce data exposure.

  • Any data sent to our servers (e.g., to call weather, news, Yelp, or Instacart APIs) is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS.

  • User account information (name, email, phone number) is stored securely with access controls and audit logging.

  • Only authorized personnel can access production systems, and only for maintenance or troubleshooting.

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute data security.

4. How We Share Your Information

We may share information only in the following cases:

4.1 Service Providers (API Integrations)

To perform certain tasks on your behalf, we may send limited necessary information to:

  • WeatherKit / news API providers

  • Yelp API

  • Instacart API

  • Uber deep link handler

  • Maps/geocoding providers

This information is used solely to complete the specific user-requested task.

We do not share user personal information with these services unless required to fulfill the task (e.g., making a booking).

 

4.2 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law or subpoena, or to protect our legal rights.

5. Your Choices and Rights

You can:

  • Update or delete your name, email, phone, and preferences inside the App

  • Opt out of beta communications or product updates

  • Decline to provide optional data (certain features may be limited)

If you are located in a jurisdiction with data rights (e.g., GDPR/CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your data. Contact us directly to exercise these rights.

6. Children’s Privacy

Selene is not intended for use by children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date will reflect the most recent changes. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
